The Stone Behind
the Object
Every piece we create begins as a slab of authentic natural stone — never composites, never synthetics. Each material carries its own geological story, millions of years in the making.
Philosophy
Natural stone.
No exceptions.
We work exclusively with authentic natural stone. No composites. No engineered surfaces. No artificial coloring. The material as nature produced it — quarried, cut, and refined by hand.
Each slab is hand-selected by our team for depth of character, structural integrity, and veining quality. Most are rejected. The ones that pass become Prela Atelier pieces.

Materials We Use

Calacatta Gold
Apuan Alps, ItalyRarer and more dramatic than Carrara, Calacatta is distinguished by its brilliant white base and bold, sweeping veins of gold and grey. Each slab is effectively unique — no two pieces share the same movement. Our most sought-after material.

Calacata Viola
ItalyCalacatta Viola is a dramatic Italian marble known for its creamy white background contrasted by bold burgundy and deep violet veining. Quarried in Italy, it is highly valued for statement interiors and sculptural design pieces. The strong contrast and expressive patterns make every slab unique, often used in luxury bathrooms, countertops, and artistic furniture.

Carrara White
Tuscany, ItalyThe most celebrated marble in the world. Carrara's cool white ground and soft grey veining have graced the sculptures of Michelangelo and the floors of Rome's great basilicas. We use it for pieces where restraint and clarity are paramount.

Thassos White
Greece (Thassos Island)Thassos White is a premium marble quarried on the Greek island of Thassos, known for its exceptionally pure and luminous white color. Its crystalline structure reflects light beautifully, giving interiors a bright and elegant appearance.

Thassos Gold
Greece (Thassos Island)Thassos Gold is an elegant natural marble quarried from the Greek island of Thassos. It features a luminous white background enriched with subtle golden and warm beige veining, giving the stone a refined and luxurious appearance.

Pelagonia
Berat, AlbaniaPelagonia Marble is a refined natural stone known for its soft, warm base tones and elegant linear veining. Quarried in the Balkan region, it carries a subtle sophistication that makes it ideal for both architectural surfaces and sculptural design pieces.

Travertine
Tivoli, ItalyFormed in mineral springs, travertine carries a warm, earthy palette of cream, ivory, and walnut — interrupted by the characteristic pores and channels left by ancient bubbling water. It brings softness and a sense of geological time to any surface.

Honey Onyx
Iran & TurkeyThe most luminous of all stones — onyx is translucent, allowing light to pass through when backlit. Its warm amber and honey tones shift throughout the day as the light changes. We use it selectively, for pieces where light itself becomes part of the design.

Emperador Light
SpainEmperador Light is an elegant Spanish marble recognized for its warm light brown background and delicate network of white and cream veins.

Emperador Dark
Alicante, SpainA rich chocolate brown marble threaded with intricate white and gold veins. Emperador's warmth makes it a natural companion to wood, leather, and brass — materials often found in the interiors our clients create.

Sahara Noir
TunisiaSahara Noir is a luxurious black marble known for its deep, dramatic background crossed by striking white and golden veining.

Marquina Black
Basque Country, SpainA profound, near-perfect black with thin white veins that trace across the surface like ink on paper. Marquina creates a striking counterpoint to lighter interiors — authoritative, dramatic, and deeply elegant.

Nero Absolute
IndiaNero Absolute is significantly harder than marble, making it ideal for countertops, sinks, tables, and architectural elements that require strength and longevity.
Looking After Stone
Care & Maintenance
Clean gently
Use a soft microfibre cloth and pH-neutral stone cleaner. Never abrasive sponges.
Avoid acids
Vinegar, lemon juice, and bleach will etch natural stone. Always use stone-specific products.
Seal regularly
Marble and limestone benefit from sealing every 6–12 months to protect against staining.
Blot, don't wipe
For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth. Wiping can spread liquid and cause staining.
